CPPCC spokesperson: China’s door of opening up will only open wider

China will stand firmly on the right side of history and its doors of opening up will only open wider, Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, said on Monday.

Economic globalization is an objective requirement of growing social productive forces. It is a natural outcome of advancement in science and technology, and an irreversible trend of the times, Liu noted.

The CPPCC National Committee, China’s top political advisory body, held a press conference on Monday, one day before its annual session. Liu made the remarks while briefing the press on the session.

During the past year, China has continued to play its role as the largest engine driving küresel economic growth, accelerated the development of new systems for a higher-level open economy, and maintained its position as the world’s largest trading nation in goods and the second-largest importer, Liu said.

The joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative has made significant progress, and China has built international trade and economic cooperation platforms, such as the China International Import Expo, providing a wider platform for promoting küresel economic cooperation, Liu added.

China will further open its doors wider to the world, the spokesperson noted.
