I herein respond to Commissioner Rohee`s letter: “Any talk of a review of the 2020 election should be canned”. I am not surprised. The conduct of an evaluation/review which is a standard and best practice at the end of any project is alien to the People`s Progressive Party, and any activity that they conduct on behalf of this nation.
Such an evaluation/review would expose either their incompetence and/or corruption as is the case with GECOM where they are determined to conceal the corrupted conduct of the elections, to wit the numerous absentee voters for whom votes were cast. The evidence in this regard has not been refuted by them and any of their surrogates.
It is akin to Nandlall collecting all the documentation submitted for the verification or negation of the allegation of absentee voters. He has, however, placed those documents in cold storage rather that have an open verification done to scuttle the APNU/AFC allegation that votes were recorded for persons who were overseas at the time of the 2020 elections.
This practice of avoiding such processes is prevalent. Feasibilities studies are not done, a la Oil and Gas. Reports are not published, a la the GDF helicopter crash and the outstanding 2022 census, among many others.
With specific reference to GECOM, Rohee now blames the non-submission of a report by the CEO as the main reason for the evaluation being “useless, unnecessary and without basis”. It has taken Rohee approximately two years to come up with this reason/excuse after all others have proven to be unacceptable.
To wit, the Chairperson`s contention that the material/evidence that exists (which Rohee suggests does not exist) is only relevant in a petition, rings hallow and deceitful. If it is so, why did she sent the first too batches for verification, which verifications validated the allegations with approximately 80% of the alleged absentee voters being verified as having votes cast in their names. Nandalall has since ducked the verifiable hundreds which he collected stating that he would have the verification undertaken to proof that the APNU/AFC allegation was baseless and criminal. Why hasn’t he undertaken that exercise or reported on it?
The contention that the material is only relevant to a petition is also baseless. The call for a review is standard; is not premised on the allegations; and does not to seek to attribute responsibility for any wrongdoing. That is the responsibility of the Court.
The review merely seeks to evaluate the conduct of the project (elections), with the intent of identifying whether GECOM needs to address/rectify flaws that may be present in its system, which may have negatively impacted its conduct of free and fair elections in 2020. The Chairperson`s refusal to convene a review places her in cahoots with the PPP/C, who for earlier outlined reasons (beneficially corrupted processes) have much which they would not wish to be further exposed.
The fact of the matter is that GECOM is gearing up for another election with a list that facilitates the presence of the dead (no one has or can refute the presence of thousands of overseas deceased persons on the list) along with the tested allegation that absent voters had votes cast for them in 2020, yet every measure proposed to mitigate against such reoccurrences, or to simple assuage those who are leveling the accusation, are being scuttled with time and other baseless reasons, as articulated above, being trumpeted as the justification for not doing what`s requested, justifiable, right and proper.
Guyana is precariously perched on the cusp of a man made crisis with Rohee and company as cheerleaders
